A baby girl born with an “elephant trunk” is being worshipped as a Hindu god in a village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in northern India.
The girl, who has not yet been named, was born to Rambabu Sarvesh and his wife Banna Devi on Thursday. Since then thousands of people from all over the country have flocked to the small village to see the new-born infant. The locals believe that the baby girl is an incarnation of the Hindu deity Ganesha, who also has a trunk.
One of the accredited observers for the 2015 general elections, the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, said on Monday that some presiding officers and ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were compromised during the conduct of Saturday’s presidential and national assembly election.
The church also described as “unimpressive”, voters’ turnout and expressed concern that the number of permanent voter cards issued to voters was not commensurate with the number of votes cast.

The man in the photo above was allegedly shot dead by a soldier this morning at Bauchi’s INEC Office after the military tried to gain access into the office. Residents of the state had blocked the military from entering the office as results were being collated and this sparked the violence. The Nigerian Army said on Monday that it foiled an attack by some members of the Boko Haram terrorist group in Gombe State, killing at least three members of the sect.
The spokesman of the 301 Artillery regiment, who was speaking with reporters in Gombe, the state capital, added that one of the insurgents was captured alive after a gun battle in Dukku Local Government Area of the state.
